SAP BI Analyst (Mid to Senior)

Summary

Our client is looking for an SAP BI Analyst to turn SAP and non-SAP data into accurate, timely reporting and analytics for finance, risk and operations. You will gather business requirements, model data in the SAP analytics stack and deliver dashboards and reports that leaders rely on to make decisions.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or National Diploma (NQF level 6+) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Statistics or a related field

• 4+ years of SAP business intelligence experience for mid-level; 7+ years for senior

• Hands-on delivery of end-to-end BI solutions, from requirements to production support

• Experience reporting on financial or banking data is strongly preferred

Certifications

• SAP certification in BW/4HANA or SAP BW on HANA (advantageous)

• SAP Analytics Cloud certification (advantageous)

• SAP Datasphere or SAP HANA modelling certification (advantageous)

• Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) or similar BI tool certification (advantageous)

• CBAP, CCBA or similar business analysis certification (advantageous for senior)

Duties

• Gather and document reporting and analytics requirements from finance, risk and business stakeholders

• Design and build data models, InfoProviders, CompositeProviders and queries in SAP BW or BW/4HANA

• Develop reports, dashboards and stories using SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Analytics Cloud, Analysis for Office or Power BI

• Extract and transform data from SAP S/4HANA, ECC and non-SAP sources, including finance (FI/CO) data

• Monitor and fix data loads, process chains and report performance issues

• Validate data accuracy, reconcile reports to source systems and document data definitions

• Support month-end, regulatory and management reporting cycles

• Manage change requests, testing and user acceptance in line with change-control standards

• Train business users and provide second-line support for reporting queries

• Senior level: lead BI design, set modelling standards, mentor analysts and shape the reporting roadmap

Requirements

Technical skills

• SAP BW or BW/4HANA modelling, ETL and process chains

• SAP BusinessObjects (Web Intelligence, Universe Design Tool or Information Design Tool) and SAP Analytics Cloud

• SAP HANA modelling, advanced SQL and CDS views

• Analysis for Office, Power BI or Tableau (advantageous)

• ABAP for BW or SAP Datasphere (advantageous)

• Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling and data quality practices

Business and financial knowledge

• SAP Finance (FI/CO) data structures and financial reporting concepts

• Financial services reporting such as profitability, budgeting, risk and regulatory returns (advantageous)

• Awareness of POPIA and data governance requirements

• Strong requirements-gathering, analytical and documentation skills

• Able to present insights clearly to senior stakeholders

• Accurate, deadline-driven and comfortable with month-end pressure
